One of the major challenges in drilling industry that increases non-productive time, expenditures and environmental damages is lost circulation problem of drilling fluids. Lost Circulation in low pressure or unconsolidated formations can be prevented with applying appropriate loss preventative materials.
We are proud to announce that Pars Drilling Fluids company have developed LPM-BRIDGE as a high-performance Loss Preventative Material. PDF experts have engineered this product through comprehensive study on different bridging mechanisms, resilient materials, organic fibers, and also investigation on methods of optimizing particle size distribution of loss circulation materials.
Based on laboratory tests, invasion depth and invasion rate of fluids containing designed LPM-BRIDGE, this material significantly reduced in comparison with drilling fluids which did not contain any LPMs.
Drilling fluids containing LPM-BRIDGE are highly-effective for stabilizing the wellbore and preventing seepage loss in sandstones and mini-fractured formations. Fluids containing LPM-BRIDGE could hold over-pressures as high as 500 psi in LCM tester equipment on (sand bed with permeability up to 5 Darcies) or slotted filter disks (up to 200-micron fracture width). LPM-BRIDGE is effective for plugging both natural and induced mini-fractures. With creation of mini-fractures (while drilling), LPM-BRIDGE will penetrate through them and not only plugs them, but also makes an effective hoop stress in the wellbore wall in the predicted loss zone by creating a non-invasive filter cake.
Using LPM-BRIDGE minimizes the possibility of BHA differential stuck. After performing different laboratory experiments on this product, it was implemented successfully in variety of offshore and onshore wells in Iran, such as South Pars Field and onshore exploration wells.

Invasive (1) and Non-invasive (2) Filter-cakes While Drilling Induced Fractures
