The Pars Drilling Fluids (PDF) Laboratory is one of the most advanced and accredited fluid testing centers in Iran’s oil and gas industry. Recognized by the Iranian National Standard Organization, our lab is fully certified under ISO/IEC 17025:2005, serving as both a quality assurance hub and an innovation driver for drilling fluid technologies.

Laboratory Services
Our lab offers a full suite of API-standard and advanced analytical testing, including:
Standard Drilling Fluid Tests
- Rheology (600/300/6/3 RPM, YP/PV, Gel Strength)
- Filtration (LPLT, HPHT)
- pH, Alkalinity, Chloride, Calcium, and Lime Content
- API fluid loss and cake thickness
- Solids content (retort method)
- Density and specific gravity
Advanced Analysis
- Thermal Stability Tests (static aging up to 180°C)
- High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) filtration
- Particle size distribution (PSD) via Laser Diffraction
- Electrical stability of OBMs
- Compatibility testing of additives and formations
- XRD & FTIR analysis (through university collaboration)
Material Evaluation
- Raw material qualification and supplier control
- Batch-by-batch quality confirmation of finished products
- Chemical modification and synthesis trials for R&D

- FANN viscometers and pressurized cells
- OFITE HPHT filter presses
- Roller ovens for aging studies
- Retort kits, mud balances, sand content kits
- Malvern Particle Sizers (in partner labs)
- Analytical scales, pH meters, titration systems
Role in PDF’s Ecosystem
The laboratory is integrated across all functions of the company:
- Supports the Drilling School by training engineers on lab methods
- Works with R&D to develop and evaluate new fluid systems and additives
- Collaborates with Manufacturing to validate production quality
- Interfaces with Field Engineers for failure diagnosis and technical support
