Pars Drilling Fluids Company Nano-technology based shale inhibitor “CLAY-BOND L/N” to drill highly reactive shale/clay formations. This innovative Nano-based shale inhibitor has been used in several onshore and offshore wells containing high reactive clay and shale. This product contains synthetic polymers and Nano-based anionic charges to provide shale stabilization and cutting encapsulation through Pore plugging, encapsulation, physisorption mechanisms as shown below:

Advantages
• High Shale/Clay inhibition
• High performance with lower concentration 05-1% V/V in comparison with ordinary shale inhibitors
• Improve wellbore stability while cutting encapsulation
• Significant decrease in Wash & Ream (W&R) time to drilling time ratio more than 60%
• 10 – 20% decrease in NPT associated with drilling in high reactive clays, Wash and Ream and tripping times
Field Performance
According to the figure 2, by using CLAY-BOND L/N the average Wash & Ream(W&R) time to drilling time ratio decreased to 8.1% in comparison with the wells drilled conventionally with average W&R time around 21.4%. This performance shows 60% reduction in wash & ream time.
In fig 3, 17 ½” hole section drilled with CLAY-BOND L/N and ROP was increased by 34%, Trip time was reduced around 30% and Drilling days were reduced 27%.
