In drilling oil and gas wells, hole cleaning in deviated wells is more challenging in comparison with vertical wells due to boycott settling effect or eccentricity of drill pipe. Poor hole cleaning can result in problems such as borehole pack-off or excessive ECD. In such circumstances, increasing drill pipe rotation & flow rate and simultaneously using polymeric sweeps are common treatments to remove cuttings from the borehole, but these sweeps are incapable in removing bulky high-density cuttings or metallic debris in milling operations. Also, in zero or low flow-rates conditions, settling of particles in polymeric pills are high.
We are proud to announce that Pars Drilling Fluids company have developed FIBER-SWEEP as a high-performance Fibrous Hole-Sweeping Agent.
PDF engineers have developed this product with a comprehensive study on different types of hole cleaning agents and their different mechanisms to carry cuttings.
FIBER-SWEEP is an environmentally friendly specialized fiber for reducing hole cleaning problems in challenging deviated holes. It is extremely effective when used along with common polymers such as Xanthan polymer. It also has a beneficial effect on carrying cuttings or metal debris in the wellbore.
FIBER-SWEEP’s main mechanism for hole cleaning is forming a fiber network in the fluid that prevents cuttings to easily settle. The other mechanism that was observed in laboratory results, was an increment in rheological parameters such as Low Shear Viscosity (LSRV) and Yield Point (YP) which have a direct influence in cutting carrying capacity.
FIBER-SWEEP forms a powerful spiderweb-like network in fluids which provides an efficient hole cleaning, improved LSRV & Low shear rate viscosity along with an efficient cutting transport along the well.
